SUMMARY:Recording: Regional Safety\, Sustainability and Security
DESCRIPTION:We often talk about SmartCities\, but this focuses on technolog
ies. We need to focus on people. Cities don’t exist in isolation. The is
sues that cities need to address rarely end at the boundary of the city an
d the problems that cities need to solve don’t always originate within t
he boundaries of the city. We need to take a regional perspective.\n\nThes
e regions\, the geographic or Geopolitical area in which the city exists\,
are incredibly complex systems. We can’t just focus on that system thou
gh\, we need to look at the regional ecosystem — the flow of energy\, id
eas\, things and people throughout the region. We need to look at the peop
le who live in the city\, work in the city\, and visit the city on a regul
ar or occasional basis. When we consider technologies such as advanced ana
lytics and machine learning from Internet of Things data\, we need to unde
rstand the cultural\, regulatory\, economic\, political and environmental
factors that allow us to use these technologies for good. The theme of thi
 s year’s IoT Day.\n\nOn April 9\, we  focused on safety\, security and
sustainability within these ecosystems. While each of these areas can be a
ddressed separately\, we need to look at how these three areas interact\,
how they might interfere with each other\, and how we might leverage the s
olutions in one area to enhance another area. This panel  came together t
o address two areas of safety\, two areas of sustainability\, and how thes
e work together to enhance the security of the region.\n\nPlease watch the
recording as I\, Joseph di Paolantonio\, spoke with Dave Bartlett\, Chief
  Technology Officer\, Marios Zacharias\, Senior R&amp\;D Project Manager\,
Rob Tiffany [in spirit]\, Top Voice in IoT &amp\; Digital Twins\, Shyam V
aran Nath\, Cloud\, IoT &amp\; Digital Twins Expert\, and Sotiris Karagian
nis\, Chief Innovation Officer in  fascinating and insightful stories fro
m those who are actually creating results in these areas.
